pop-up messages

I have been having a couple annoying messages pop up when
I start my computer. The first is a box that pops up and
states: apiww.exe encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for any incovienence. There is a CLOSE
button on the box that gets rid of it- but it pops up
several times after a couple of minutes it stops. the
next one that we get is : rasautou.exe application error
followed by some code. Does any one know how I can get
rid of these annoying boxes.
Also- as an aside we get the pop-up asking if I want to
upgrade my Microsoft Instanst Messaging- I always click
NO to get rid of it- but is there anyway to get remove it?
Final question: I use SBC-YAHOO as my Internet browser-
but originally used Internet Explorer- still
get "explorer" type pop ups- can I remove the Internet
Explorer- or should I just leave it.
Thanks !

Goto Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/ Services
and disable and stop the Messenger Service. Download and
update Spybot and Ad-Aware SE and run both. Go to
Dougknox.com click on Win XP Fixes and download and
run 'Disable Windows XP Balloon Tips.
