Plug and Play freezes system

When I plug in a samsung digital camera (Digimax 300) my system freezes. I
have tried new drivers with no difference. If I have the camera pluged in
when I turn the computer on it shows up in my computer but when I double
click to open it I get in I/O error message.

It worked fine on my old computer this one is W XP SP2 as was the old one.

Boot up with it plugged in. Find it in the Device Manager, and delete it.
Also delete any installed software for it from the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs.

Unplug it, reboot, and wait until the OS fully starts.

See if the If the camera's docs tell you to install their software first, BEFORE you plug it in.
If not, plug it in and follow the New Device Wizard.
