Have you followed the instructions on your ISPs website?

What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately.

You'll get help for Outlook faster if you ask in newsgroup:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Mention which version of Outlook you are using and that
you are running it under Vista, in case it matters.

Are you asking for the Outlook program or for the Windows
Mail program?

If it's the Outlook program, you're likely to get a better answer
in newsgroup:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Mention which version of Outlook you're using, and that you're
using it under Vista, in case it matters.

If it's the Windows Mail program instead, keep on reading.

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program (details not available)
tend to cause assorted problems in Windows Mail. To stop it from
creating problems, you have to uninstall it, not just disable a part or
all of it. You sometimes then need to remove your email account
under Windows Mail, then restart Windows Mail and create the
account again.

If this cures your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus
program that doesn't cause such problems in Windows Mail.
I recommend either avast! or AVG, either one with a custom
install that tells it to leave out the part that scans email.

We often try to provide enough details so that people who read this
newsgroup but don't post messages here will benefit.

Double click on Computer on your desktop, then click on Control
Panel, then double click on Programs and Features. Go down the
list until you find that program (I don't have so I can't tell you what to
look for), click on it, then click on Uninstall.
