PLEASE HELP! Registry Key Problem

Hello. I have one particular registry key that seems to be corrupt. It's
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/MAIN/FEATURECONTROL

I am an admin and have logged in as myself and as a local admin while off
the network. When I click on the featurecontrol key, I get the message:
Cannot open. Error while opening key.

It gives me the ability to set the permissions on it, but it can't save them
for the same reason as above.

I've tried to rename it, even tried to add a sub-key underneath it but
continually get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am able to view/change/update/add to any other part of the registry.

Any help is appreciated!

i don't see what the problem is....

however, if your registry cleaners, like Eusing Reg Cleaner,
leaves it as is, then maybe you should too.

but if you are determined to overcome the
extensive programming that went into windows
with using your own, then maybe you can
try your technique via safemode. Another
option available to you is to use a different browser
that wouldn't rely upon that particular key, like
netscape...

Office 2007 doesn't want to install because it is trying to access this key
and can't.
