IE7 Setup Failed

When I ran the IE7 setup, it failed and said to restart my computer to remove
any changes. It also put this nifty little shortcut on my desktop leading me
to support options (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917925).

In Method 2 (stated in the link I included above), the directions call for
modifying the registry key

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl"

(in my case, anyway). When I click on this key, RegEdit says "Cannot open
FeatureControl: Error while opening key". Why is this error appearing and
how can I fix it?
