I have a PC that someone was borrowing. The pC was already turned on, and they didnt realize this, and therefore flicked on the surge protected power source. This is turn shut the pC off while it was loading, then restarted it. Since then it goes into a loop of booting. It goes into the user profile selection and login,a nd then after logging in it restarts, and goes back to that screen. I have tried F8, and restoring to last know good configuration, but that as well goes into the same loop. has aonyone else seen this before? Any idea how to resolve this one? I just cant figure it out an am extremely puzzled.

Thanks!

Enter the BIOS,exit page,select,load set-up defaults,then save change
and exit the BIOS.

bout your looping problem ! you might need to clear yourdos thru a jumper connection on your mother board ! i had to pull a jumper off of my old amdk6-2 once for this reason! there might be a jumper on your motherboard depending on your manufactuer, you will need to remove it for a minimum of 10 seconds then replace it back on the same poles you removed it from to clear your primary dos or bios i forgot its been so long ! it fixed my looping thing thought!

.
boot to xp cd
recovery console
chkdsk /r
if hard drive isnt ruined but you cant boot when finished

type exit and press enter take out xp cd and test booting

back to recovery console
and run article 307545
site
support.microsoft.com
search and plug in above number

if that also doesnt work
try a repair install
if that doesnt work clean install after backing up data

I had something similar happen to a machine I was working on.
By any chance, is the UPS service running on that computer?
You could check by booting into safe mode, and going into power options
under the control panel. If it's running, try disabling it. If it's not,
then I can't help.
