I am in Brazil and cannot contact anyone at home in canada - my computer is
acting up - At start up it is loading in LARGE PRINT - th erest of its
functionality appears to be Ok - i have been on it all day trying to resolve
this but to no avail.
It started the other day when my wife went to switch users - her account
opebned in huge format - somehow I managed to reduce it and now we are stuck
with the DELL in blue opening with large fonts and the windows loading screen
too - then it seems OK.
Question - am I running in safe mode?
Please help me someone. Thanks.

If you were running in Safe Mode, you would get a notice at startup about
Windows not being able to start normally. Then asked if you wanted to
proceed to Safe Mode. It sounds more like your display drivers are damaged
-or- a game or other program that runs using a smaller resolution (640x480
for example) did not reset the display settings when the application was
closed.

Try the easiest first. Check on resolution settings. To do this: Right
click desktop and choose Properties. On the Settings page, what is shown
for the desktop resolution? Small desktop = large objects. Large desktop =
small objects. So bump up the resolution to a higher setting.

BEFORE doing this, be sure that you know what resolution your monitor and
your display adapter can handle. Too high of a setting and you'll end up
with nothing on the screen and/or cause damage to the monitor. Your system
manual should have the needed information or you could look this up on
Dell's web pages for your system.

Otherwise, most modern hardware can handle 1024x768 so this is the default
setting XP uses when it can. It will set a larger desktop if working
drivers are in place and the hardware has been identified accurately.

If no luck on setting the resolution, visit the Dell website. Download and
install the display drivers for your system.
