Please Help - Desktop Link Automatically Shows on Desktop

Everytime I log on to my computer a "menu" of links appears in line on the
right side of my desktop providing links to - Insurance sites, XXXX sites,
anti spyware sites, dating, pharmacy, & gambling sites. I have tried using
Xsoft and adaware to remove but they don't fix the problem. I want to get rid
of these as my kids sometimes like to use the computer. If I am not logged
on, the the links show the not connected internet message. if the link is
clicked. If I right click on the icons it doesn't show me a file path. Very
frustrating.

Have you tried right clicking and selecting Delete?

or

Highlight the link and press the Delete key.

Thanks Frank
This doesn't work as right clicking doesn't provide actually do anything to
the menu that appears ie nothing shows. It is only when offline if the menu
items are passed over then a file path to an error message shows up after
right clicking on the error message but it appears the file path is to a
windows program that generates the error message informing that the internet
is not logged on. Interestingly the server no that the link attempts to
connect to is also the same no that my antivirus software continually
intercepts messages incoming as malware from the following address
