Desktop Links do nothing

I have links (that should open with IE) on the desktop that do not respond
when clicked. Icons that launch local applications work fine. If the links
are stored in Favorites, the sites can be accessed. I am guessing something
was corrupted in the registry. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Dear Kelly,

My problem with my desktop icons is similar to the gentleman's that wrote
you a couple of months ago. When I right click on the Network Neighborhood
icon and drop down to Properties, nothing happens. Uusally, my network
connections pop-up. So, I downloaded and executed the EXE and LNK Fix for
Windows XP - Line 12 which until I restarted my laptop worked. However, once
restarted, the fix doesn't seem to be functional. Please be kind and advise
how to implement this executable fix such that it stays, permanently, in the
registry.

Thinking ahead, the laptop is a HP Pavillion which does have a boot from CDR
option but it will not recognize anyother media than the system recovery
discs that came with it so I am unable to reboot with my Windows XP-Pro disc
should you be thinking in that direction.

Many thanks,

Michael Patrick

Hmm, beings save on exit is included within, that should have worked even
after reboot. Without knowing more and in the meantime, run this edit
anyway - once all is working:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Good luck, Michael and keep us posted.
