Hello Kate...a short lesson in Slide Shows....keep them under 55-minutes....I
will usually use 3-differant settings for the SLIDE
SHOW/7-sec./9-sec./11-sec./..for my TRANSITIONS its usually 1.5-sec...but
sometimes 1.75-sec./I always SAVE to MY COMPUTER in DV-avi...this is a large
file...50-minutes will be about 10-GB's....and RENDER onto a DVD-disk at
about 3.9-GB's....the DASH(-)Blanks will play on your TV-set via the Home
Player....ROXIO is a really good software....I use EZ-CD/DVD Creator 6
Platinum...its upgraded to Creator 8...I haven't used the Creator 8...but
Creator 6 is nice and easy....You need a NTFS-HDD to make
movies....7200RPM....and a SOUNDCARD....your Processor must exceed
1.8-GHz....Pentium is the best...but I'm useing CELERON D at this time(its
real good)...from there it trial and error...it does take months to learn all
the Menu's...but is well worth the trouble...DVD-blanks...(+)is a PC-only
BLANK...(-)is a Playback on Home DVD-players.

A 30 minute slide show likely has quite a few pictures and transitions
making it complex.
This is probably why it is slowing things down for you especially if you
don't have a lot of
resources to begin with.
First you could split the project into sections (step by step details on my
website)
Second since you are working only with still images and audio I recommend
checking out
Microsoft Photo Story 3. It is also free from Microsoft and is designed to
work with still
images and audio such as your project.
You can download Photo Story 3 here:
