Problem saving: No error messages but I lose pictures and music.

My wife created a year in review which is about 16 minutes long with pictures
collected in 2007. She added 4 songs and transition. It works great in the
Movie Maker preview window and other than slowing down bit to edit we have
found no problems. We have made other videos a month ago and have had
success.
The problem arises when saving the file as a movie. It completes with
success after about 20 minutes but when it finishes and we play it back on
our computer, the pictures fade to black at about the 8 minute mark
(consistenetly), the song still plays but the audio stops at the end of the
song. The video properties still say that it is a 16 minute video but you
stare at a black screen for half that time. No fun. Any help would be
appreciated. (I defraged my hard drive, and tried "changing the names of
trouble Codecs")

check my website's Problem Solving > Can't Save a Movie page... it could be
that the memory you need to successfully save it is more than available.

as a test, save it to one of the Pocket PC choices, which needs less memory
to finish.... if that works, then you need to work on making more memory
available or making the project a bit less complex.
