Soundtrack Transitions

Questions for you all.

I'm making a movie with a soundtrack of selected songs. Many of the
songs are several minutes in length (too long for my needs).
Currently, my option appears to be to cut the song where there is a
loll. However, even at its best these transitions are rough and
abrupt. I'd prefer a more seemless move from song to song. I've
found the movie maker tool that toggles the ratio/volume between the
soundtrack and narration tracks, but there doesn't seem to be a tool
or button that allows one to fade music in and out while staying in
the soundtrack.

Thoughts?

drag the song at the right... on the timeline... over the one next to.. it
might just butt up first, but drag it again and it'll overlap, making an
audio transition

the first will fade into the second over the duration of the overlapping
transition
