Please help - after effects of BlasterWorm Virus - Registry Editing disabled

Jackpants

Although I am now using Mcafee antivirus software - I
still have some problems. Whenever I boot up, a message
comes up saying Registry Editor Disabled. I can't get
into regedt32 , and I have even tried to use System
restore to solve the problem - AT THAT POINT Mcafee
antivirus finds a "Suspicious script" ??? Also when using
my XP help and support (which leads me to this page), if
I try to view "detailed system information" I get the
same thing from Mcafee - a "suspicious script" found. In
both cases the information given says the the script is
trying to run a IWshShell3 object. Any ideas my friends,
as I am lost ???

If you removed the blaster worm properly you shoukd have
shut off system restore (this deletes the files) if you
did not then you still have the blaster, which most
likely is that suspicious script McAfee is warning you
about

Hi,

This message is due to your running a vb script. In these cases, the vb
script works because of regedit being disabled and the regedit to correct
the behavior is a regedit. Ignore the error message.

You can opt at this point to rename regedit.exe to regedit.com or disable
McAfee.
