Outlook Virus Scan Pop-up

I run McAfee virus software, and whenever I open outlook express, I get a
pop-up from McAfee saying: "A suspicious script has been detected." It lists
the file that has the suspicious activity, and says it has been stopped. I'm
given
four options to choose from: 1. Stop the script 2. Allow the entire script
3.Find
out more info 4.Continue what I'm doing. I've tried all the options at
different
times, but the pop up always comes up when I open outlook. Any suggestions
on how I can get rid of it permanently?

You didn't say which version of McAfee that you are using, however there
probably is a setting in Mcafee to turn off the warning. Try to find it. It
should be under some sought of configuration tab. Also try reading the
software manual.

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.security.virus

What is the version of McAfee (reatil or corporate) ?

What is the fully qualified name and path to the files that have this suspicious activity ?

Is this when you open a particular email message ?

Just execute Outlook Express ?

Have you forced a "On Demand" scan of the hard disk(s) ?

Thank you. I was able to find config tab that was enabled. I disabled it and
the pop up does not come up anymore. But should I be concerned about
suspicious
scripting activity. The info in virus scan said it looks for worms that
could cause
problems. I run McAfee 9.1

Problem fixed a config tab in virus scan was enabled. I disabled it and the
pop up
does not show up. But I still have a question. The problem would occur
whenever
I opened outlook, not an email message.
I run McAfee 9.1 (retail) The file path for the suspicious script is
C:\program files\support.comTWC\vbs\tsoe.vbs Virus scan says that running
scripts should
be monitored for worm activity. Is this something I really need to be
concerned
about? If that tab is enabled I always get the pop up.

Support.Com
I guess their software was included with some software that Road Runner provided you.

Is the folder really; C:\program files\support.com\TWC ?
and the file... C:program Files\support.com\TWC\vbs\tsoe.vbs ?

Apparently this is a known issue. What you hasve done has disabled the receipt of pop-ups
but has it lowered your security level ?

I don't know.

One thing is you eally don't need the software from Support.Com http://support.com/ but it
is legit software.
The question is do you need it and would it be better to remove their software and then
re-enable Suspicious script detection ?

A good place to ask would be the Mcafee Forums.

Many (A)DSL and cable ISPs install such "helpers" with their software (none
of which you need, with the possible exception of software for the
ISP-supplied modem). Another app of this type is called Motive SmartBridge
(http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-195500/tm.htm). Such apps enable your
ISP to troubleshoot your connection without any input from you.
