Hello
I hope you are well.
I beg you helping me in this serious problem.
God bless you!

my problem:
I had two os:"win 2000 pro" & "win xp pro"
I suddenly got a fatal error on win xp (that blue screen).then I restarted
my pc and it came up truely, but I decided to recover it somehow!
so I restarted my pc to boot with win xp cdrom and I do not know why that I
followed setup instructions upto installation screen, but I did not want to
reinstall xp again.
therefore I restarted it,but installation screen appears again.I restarted
it for several times, but win xp did not came up and just installation screen
and afer severall times of restarting that screen disappeard after windows
logo and just a black screen was appearing.
then I found out that installation screen was just an upgrade not a fresh
installation and now tath black screen dosn't allow me to do anything.
now I do not know how can I recover win xp through recovery console without
a fresh installation of win xp.
so please help me.
I should say when it comes up with win 2000 ,I checked win xp's drive(D:/)
and I saw that any thing is in its original location and nothing has been
deleted in D drive.
I did check disk too but my problem dosn't solve.

please help me!
wish you best regards!

Sara,

Boot from your CD again. You will have two options to repair the Windows XP
install. Skip the first repair option and continue until you are presented
with the choice to perform a fresh install or repair an existing
installation. Choose repair, it will then look for the existing install. If
it finds the location of the existing install you should be g2g, else abort
as it will perform a new install.

Good luck.

Hi!

Thanks for your clear and concise response to Sara. If I had read this last
night, maybe I wouldn't have gone back to try the first option and got a new
installation of XP, but none of my 50,000 work files accumulated for over a
year. Since I had nothing to do with original installation, I never learned
how to back up from CD. Thanks for short and clear response to Sara
