Playing DVDs

I am trying to set up Media Player 9 in XP to play DVDs.
I have just installed a DVD Decoder software. I have an
Acer 220 Travelmate with a Mitsumi CD drive. But windows
Media does not give me the option to play DVDs and the
drive does not recognize that a DVD disk is in the drive.
Can someone help me set this up? The drive works fine
with any other type of CD. Thanks

You described your system as an "Acer 220 Travelmate with a Mitsumi CD drive" ... is it a CD-ROM drive or a DVD-ROM drive? I'm no expert but I believe that XP requires you have hardware that supports the media type you want to play ... yes, you'll also need a software-based player and proper codecs but first your hardware must support the media format. If you're not sure about the capabilities of your Mitsumi drive ... and think that XP has incorrectly identified and configured it ... go to Mitsumi's website and view the info on your specific drive.
