Playing CD's

Apparently some of the files that control my DVD/CDRW
drive are corrupted so the CD's and DVD's that I play do
not sound at their best (they sound like and old LP
record or the sound simply jumps).

Does anyone know if I can fix this without having to
reformat my computer and then install everything again?

You can actually re-install WMP 9 on top of the existing setup. If you don't
have it then up-grade to it.
