Play / Project a Movie In Powerpoint

I have inserted a movie (have tried AVI, MGEG, WMA formats) in powerpoint.
The movie plays fine on the computer when in edit mode and is visible on the
computer in presentation mode as well but when I am projection the movie
through a projector on to the screen, it is visible on the screen only in
edit mode. When in presentation mode it is not visible through the
projector. The movie is visible through the projector when played in windows
media player. Please advise?
