Can anyone tell me how to reformat my movie clip from 'High MAT' - the
default Movie Maker setting - to a setting comaptible with most standard DVD
players using the programmes available on XP or downloading the necessary
software?

AFAIK, not possible. You need a DVD burner to create a DVD playable disk.

I also put out this same message and received all different kinds of good
advice, tried them all. Nothing worked, finally............

After many hours and money spent on CD's, DVD's and a new DVD player I
bought a new program called Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0. It works Great! I
saved my movie in Movie Maker in AVI to my computer and then pulled my
saved movie into Adobe Premiere. I can play my movie on my new DVD player
now. I'm Happy:)

P.S. It is much easier to use Movie Maker when making a movie rather than
making it in the Adobe Premiere.

I think the WindowsXP Movie Maker is set up to play your movie on the
computer only. (?)
