Extract pieces of a mp3 audio file

R

Rick

Hi,

My question is about Windows XP. I have some MP3 audio files, and I'd like to "extract" pieces of the sound (clips) to have like the most important parts of the recording to carry with me & listen. Is there a simple way to dothis? Like using the standard Windows applications that come with the opersting system? I want to avoid installing more software (even free one) in the PC. My PC has Sonic RecordNow DeLuxe, InterMedia DVD, and Windows Movie Maker. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Rick

I don't know of a way to do it without installing 3rd party software.
I personally don't like the results from Audacity, which David
mentioned. I use a simple freeware that gives me much better results
with a smaller footprint:
mp3DirectCut - editor to cut, fade, split and record compressed mpeg
audio

One of the simplest ways to do this (assuming you don't want to use an
audio editor), is to use the freebie, "mp3DirectCut" mp3 file cutter
to cut or split the file, all of which it does WITHOUT having to
reencode the mp3 file. It's not an audio editor; it's just a splitter
or cutter, so it doesn't reencode the file (which is an advantage).

It's made by the same guy who makes that excellent, lightweight,
directory music player, "1by1". (Emphasis on "file directory" music
player, as opposed to a "playlist" player (which I can't stand dealing
with :)

Here is the link for mp3DirectCut.

Great minds think alike (see my reply about 10 minutes prior to
yours)... at least when it's not about vocalists or history! lol

Indeed. :)

Although you just reminded me, I still wish Dylan hadn't essentially
abandoned the folk music scene after 1965 or so, and moved over
towards rock (or at least as I recall, and stayed truer to folk music,
like Joan Baez and PP&M. Viva the difference ... between rock and
folk music. :)

Oh, and before I forget, did you (or anyone) ever compare the sound of
a "record" to a proper wave file or CD recording *made from that
record*? I'd bet dollars to donuts no one could tell the difference,
which proves the point I made about the alleged "pure sound of vinyl".
:)

Hey, I don't have time right now to get into a discussion of it.... I'm
busy listening to my vinyl electric Dylan and Janis Joplin on my
turntable! I don't listen with statistics and waveforms either, I
listen with my ears and heart, and the vinyl sounds better to me by
those standards. ;-)

BTW, Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company's classic
album, Cheap Thrills, was released 44 years ago this past Sunday. I
know that's not nearly old enough to interest you! LOL

The 3-day Woodstock Festival started 43 years ago today.

Are you still looking for young boys to put your small cock in his
mounth? We have some new boys who are looking for sugar daddies like
you with small cocks.

You can have a young boy and our penis extension program.

I hear it works for you.
"mounth"? Not only are you a moron but you can't spell either.
