Movie won't play on DVD player

I have made a movie using WindowsXP "Movie Maker" and burned it to a DVD. I
can play it back using Media Player, but it won't play on my DVD player
hooked to my TV. Does anyone know why it won't play on my DVD player?

Tell us what file format you created the movie in, and what formats your DVD
player is willing to play in.

Not every DVD TV player can accept any type of DVD R media. You need to
confirm what media type the DVD TV player can do.

Insert the DVD made into the PC's DVD player. When it autostarts, cease
operation and close whatever is playing the DVD. Open windows explorer and
select the drive letter for your DVD player. What exactly do you see in the
right hand pane?

Also, are using "+" or "minus/-" media to burn DVDs?
If using "+/-" media, which method is used?
What is the make and model of the DVD player connected to your TV that will
play this DVD?

Codec is not problem here. You can burn the DVD, and then play the DVD in
media player you've already indicated before.

I just recently purchased a DVD Burner for my computer just for the
extra Space each disc can hold. After encoding an AVI File to MPEG-2
And burning it as a dvd movie ...it worked perfectly on the computer
but not on my DVD Player hooked up to TV. After reading alot about
this, it comes down to the player you have, the media type , brand and
quality...I dOUBT The industry could make it any more difficult or
complicated... but Bluray - HD Are on their way to make things even
worse and more confusing.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
After many hours and money spent on CD's, DVD's and a new DVD player I
bought a new program called Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0. It works Great! I
saved my movie from Movie Maker in AVI to my computer and them pulled my
saved movie into Adobe Premiere. I can play my movie on my new DVD player
now. I'm Happy:)

I think the WindowsXP Movie Maker is set up to play your movie on the
computer only. (?)

Thanks again,
Lillie
