I just purchased a LITEON 16XDVD-ROM. I installed it on my DELL PC running
Windows XP SP2. I currently have Window Media Player 9 when i insert my DVD
it plays really slow and choppy. I installed the software Power DVD and ran
the DVD movie on there and it seemed fine. Playing was fine sound everything.

What could be going on with Windows Media Player.

This is most likey due to a UDMA (Ultra Direct Memory Access) issue on ur
disc drive. This can be caused by either a piece of hardware or a driver. Go
to start>right-click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager. Locate
"IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" and right-click>properties>advanced settings for
each on until u hit ur disc driver (note that ur hard driver will be here
also). If ur disc drive is listed as being in PIO mode or anything less than
UDMA 4 than this is why ur movies are choppy.

The solution to the above is to check ur PATA cables, connections and in
some cases un-install ne RAID drivers u have - as these like to play havoc on
disc drives (note - don't do this is u rely on RAID for your hard drives).
Also, try updating the firmware on ur disc drive as well (be careful with
this). It could even be ur motherboard.
