Place your votes here people, keep the slogan the way it is, or change
it to the suggested one?

Garrett,
Inadvertently, you have missed the other slogan which was brought up in an
earlier thread:

'The best of the best of Freeware as determined by the
readers of alt.comp.freeware'.

There are only two choices?

Everyone else,
I wish the other people who sit back and do not vote would do so, so we
won't get 'The majority voted this' quote when that is not true.

I am sure there are people who aren't going to vote on anything for fear of
incurring the wrath of the already polarized factions of the group.
Be heard. Vote. Have an opinion. These are group projects. The questions the
Webmasters ask are for your benefit. Not to start another fight, I hope.

It's up to Susan and Garrett to agree on procedures. It's up to us(and the
WMs) to have an opinion.

The reason why I have stopped lurking and going to put a bit more input...

"The best of the best in Windows© Freeware as
determined by the readers of alt.comp.freeware."

I vote for this version. Who cares about other OSs anyway?!

Thank you Lenny. It would be nice to see how the real process works as it
does during the Fall PL Ware nominations and discussion.
How did you hear me under the noise of the black helicopters?

Then leave out any reference to an OS.

I vote for "The best of the best of Freeware as determined by the
readers of alt.comp.freeware".

I would prefer 'The best of the best of Freeware as determined by the
readers of alt.comp.freeware'.

I like this one.
But I have the feeling that this vote has little to do with the subject.
Do we have to pick sides in this battle for control of Pricelessware?

I vote to leave it the way it is.

I replied to another thread before this one.

I vote to change, if this is the only option.

Rather, if viable, I vote that you stay with Win freeware, because you are
maintaining the site and prefer to stay focused on Windows, and the new site
change the slogan and include other operating systems.

Does anyone agree with the dual solution?

Yes. I think that's a good solution, if it's acceptable to the group.

Nah. I don't support, recommend, endorse, approve or even like the other
site. IMO there is only one Pricelessware and that is Pricelessware.org
Sorry m8 my vote stands with the included comments.

I think that's obvious to all but a few.

It has been suggested in a topic that was not titled properly, that the
slogan of Pricelessware be changed from:

"The best of the best in Windows© Freeware as
determined by the readers of alt.comp.freeware."

to:

"The best of the best in Freeware for Windows©
(and other OS) as determined by the readers of alt.comp.freeware."

Let's not bury this important thing like the site move, let us allow
all the users here have the opportunity to voice their opinion on this.
After all, it should be determined by the readers of alt.comp.freeware,
and not just a small handful of people who have a problem with being
open with voting on things like this

Place your votes here people, keep the slogan the way it is, or change
it to the suggested one?

-Garrett

I don't see any point in changing. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Garrett, you have brought our pricelessware site to life, do what you think
best.

Daryl,
I've decided not to partake in any or all voting or discussion of this
now "dual newsgroup". I feel strongly that breaking acf in two like has
been done was the beginning of the end for me. I still visit as often as
is possible (because the amount of information one gets here is amazing)
but I wont participate as I did. I'll only post sparingly on things that
really interest me. That's how I feel and I wish all well,
POKO

I vote to *retain* the word "Windows" in the slogan but I move that the
copyright symbol "©" after the word be replaced by the legally correct
trade mark symbol "â„¢".
If one accepts that MS can trademark "Windows". They may succeed in
intimidating everyone (e.g., change 'Windows XYZ' to 'XYZ for
Windows(tm)' or we will force you to spend your entire budget on
litigation"), but this is still in litigation in several countries.
Perhaps a better solution would be to note at the bottom of the page
(or somewhere on the site, cover, etc.) that "'Microsoft Windows' is a
trademark of Microsoft Corporation."

(For any who doubt my paraphrase, see recent dicussion of recent
Lindows or Windows Startup Inspector, etc., name changes.)
The slogan would then read:
"The best of the best in Windowsâ„¢ software as determined by the readers
of alt.comp.freeware."

I have already taken it upon myself to apply this correction to the
printed covers of all Pricelessware CD's distributed by me.

I think this whole discussion is premature. If and when we have
actual Linux (or at least non-Microsoft) Pricelessware beyond a few
token items, then we should consider a change or even multiple
slogans. Personally, I don't think we have sufficient *nix
participation yet to justify a change, nor have we decided how to (or
what site will) present non-Windows/non-MS Pricelessware.

No to non-Windows/non-MS slogan.

Yes to whatever minor correction gains favor.
