Pinom Worm.

Hi ...

I just found this newsgroup. Please excuse me if this has been discussed
before.

A couple of days ago, AVG poppd up a box that said the `Pinom Worm' was
on my computer. Please run AVG to get rid of it etc. I ran AVG. It found two
infected files, moved them to `vault,' and I deleted them.

Since then, a message box keeps popping up that says Pinom Worm detected
at:

C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{CD53596A-5812-49DB-AF84-A72B9BECDE4F}\RP102\A0006209.ex
e

I run AVG, but it says nothing found.

I can see C:\System Volume Information by unchecking the box that says `Do
Not Show Hidden System Files,' but I can't look at directory. Get msg.
`Access Denied.' Just as well, because I would really screw things up.

Far as I can tell, the msg. box is somehow associated with the screen
saver. It only pops up when screen saver active.

Anybody have any idea what to do??

Thanks,

Sam

The question does come up here almost daily. You need to disable
system restore and reboot. Here's details:

Turn off your System Restore
reboot
optional goes here********
Turn System Restore back on if you wish

****** Reboot to safe mode, fire up all your antivirus, anti trojan, anti
spy programs to do a check, then reboot.
