AVG Problem......

SimonJ

I keep getting a window with the heading "AVG resident shield"
It says it has found I-Worm/Bagle.Q in file C:\system volume
information\_restore.........\RP52\A0016438.exe.

When I run AVG scan, it doesn't find the file, saying I have a clean system.

I cannot open or delete that file, because I get an 'access is denied'
message.

How do I get rid of it?

The virus has been saved in a restore point.
Open the control panel and go to system, then system restore.
(If you have XP and control panel is in Category View, go to Performance and Maintainence, the
System Restore)
Turn off restore.
Reboot, all restore files are gone including the virus.
Go back and turn restore on again. Create a new restore point if you want.

You don't really need to worry about viruses in the Restore Points. They
will be automatically be flushed out by SR after a short time. However, if
you are uncomfortable with it being there;

Per Noel Paton...WinME MVP -

Get rid of Viruses in C:\_Restore
You don't need to do this - System restore will get rid of them itself given
time.

If you're worried that you may accidentally restore to a time during which
you were infected, then the instructions Sanjaya gave you will do You can
also check here for more information on how to handle this type of
situation;
