Pictures missing from buttons in Execl 03

I have a copy of Excel 2003 installed with SP2 but a lot of my icons when I
try and use them have the images missing from them and I can't tell what they
do - for example in the add border section.

For example the big "B" on the button for Bold is missing and is just a grey
button

I have tried a re-installing and repair etc no luck any ideas?

Many thanks in advance

Hello:

Try searching for *.xlb on your drive. You may have to change option to
show hidden files. Rename all of the ones you find to something that
does not have an xlb extension (there maybe more than one). I usually
just add a 2nd extension to the name (eg Excelxx.xlb.bak). Windows
will warn you about changing extensions, just ignore it.

Open Excel. With luck your problem will be solved. If not you
can reverse process.

Note xlb files are toolbar files that contain customized options. These
frequently become corrupted. Excel will create new ones on the fly.
You will lose any customized toolbars that you have created. So
if this does not solvel your problem delete the new ones and rename
the old ones to get back to where you were.

This did not seem to work :-( it is not so much the toolbars is missing it is
the little pics on them for example in the header and footer area you can
push preset buttons with little icons on them -but there is no pics on them
to tell what they are?
