Picture Resizer Power Tool

Peter,

I'm assuming from the beginning that the "Resize..." context-menu appears
correctly when you right-click an image file, and the resize dialog opens.
But nothing happens when you select a dimension, and press OK. Correct me if
I'm wrong.

Well, I'm not sure why it isn't working here. Maybe Ramesh will have a
brainwave. Thanks.

Not exactly. I go to My Pictures folder. Right-clicking any image and opt
for Resize, no menu appears, (neither is it a choice in "Open with", but
that's expected I believe). If I opt for Preview and then choose Resize,
the options appear OK.

Then I'm sorry you did not explain the problem clearly.

I asked "And, do you see the dialog box when you click the "Resize..."
context menu/" and you indicated yes. That caused me look into a different
route entirely.

Well, for the current problem, I'd investigate using ShellExView. Use Method
2 here:

Peter,

Download ShellExView and run it. It will scan the registry for all the
installed shell extensions. Once the scan is over and the list is displayed,
you need to spot the context menu handlers. Sort the results using "Type",
so that the context menu handlers are displayed together. (

Disable the third-party context menu handlers (Scroll right to see the
Company Name column) *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If
disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable
the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and
finally identify the culprit.

Thanks I'll have a bash at that. I guess I'll have to restore everything
afterwards of course.

Ramesh, I'll live with it. All I have to do is that one extra step of
previewing the image first.

No problem Peter. BTW, I've just found that ShellExView does not enumerate
the items in this location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers

Only one context-menu handler is present under that key, by default.
"ShellImagePreview". The other one is "PhotoResize" added by the Image
Resizer PowerToy. If you've anything else there, that _might_ be causing the
problem.

The first one is PhotoResize, then ShellImagePreview, there is also under
the main header Shellex PropertyHandler
