Picture/Fax Viewer and PDF Files

I was sent a pdf file. When I tried to open it, the picture/fax viewer opened
instead stating "No image available". I currently have adobe 8.0 and want
this as my PDF file editor. My question is; how do I change the settings in
windows to open PDF Files in adobe instead of Picture/Fax viewer? Windows XP
Professional SP2 installed.

Go to My Computer/Tools?Folder Options/File Types ,scroll down until
you find PDF Files under "Extensions" then click it to highlight it
and then click the "Change" buton below and change the programme to
open this type of file to Adobe Reader

Hey Stuart,
Thanks again for the directions. They worked and solved the issue at hand.
And thanks to a very quick reply.
