Physical Memory Dump

My new computer with Windows 2000 Professional shuts down
with a blue screen, and message reading Physical Memory
Dump, there are also some address messages but can't write
them down fast enough before the computer reboots. Why am
I getting these messages? Is it Windows or my hardware
creating the problem? It happens while working with
various software applications.

To end the reboot so that you can see the dump error, Click Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Advanced>Startup and
Recovery>[uncheck] Automatically Reboot. Can't tell you if it is Windows only or if hardware conflicts are involved. Might want to
think about changes you made recently, new software, new hardware, etc.

I was having a physical memory dump error very often on an
older p3 I was using as an ftp server. I replaced the RAM
and it cleared up. Don't know if that's your problem, but
it is something to troubleshoot.

By far the most common cause of blue screens is buggy drivers.

Unfortunately, diagnosing these yourself is not typically feasable. Disable
auto reboot in System control panel as BT recommended earlier in this
thread, then post with all the hexadecimal numbers.

You can also get these hexadecimal numbers from an event logged by Save Dump
in the system event log.
