Photoshop won't open images from their folders

I just did a clean install of Windows XP SP2 and all my programs, and loaded
data from backups. My hard drive is partitioned into C: drive for the
Operating System, drivers and certain programs which need to reside there.
Most programs, including Adobe PS7 and data folders, including "My Documents"
are on D: drive.

When I open "My Computer>Local Disk D:\Documents and Settings>My Name>My
Documents>My Pictures" and double click on an image file, or choose "open
with Adobe Photoshop", Photoshop opens, however, the image does not load.
When I open Photoshop first, then click File>Open>etc. and double click the
image file it opens in PS with no problem. This happens whether it is .jpg
or .tif, both of whose associations are set to always open with Adobe
Photoshop

Any ideas at to how to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Maybe the following article will offer some ideas.

Default Program in Windows XP

If that fails...the following links offer info on resetting
the default associations...once that is done...maybe
you can designate PhotoShop successfully.

John,

Thank you so much. I have been tearing out the little hair I have left
trying to figure this one out and you hit the nail on the head with the first
suggestion.

Thanks again,
