Photoshop installs on one PC, but not on another

+++Bobby \O\+++

I have a copy of Photoshop CS2 which installs on my WinXP Pro PC - but
doesn't work properly. I've tried every trick I know of to no avail. So, I
installed it on my other PC which is a WinXP (not Pro) and it works fine.
Is there any way to troubleshoot the installation so I can figure out what's
going wrong? Both PC's have plenty of hard drive space and 512MB ram. I
got the copy directly from Adobe. To the best of my knowledge, my Registry
is clean as a whistle. The first problem I have is that, when the
installation is done, a dialog box asks me if I want to open the Readme
file. I check it off - but it doesn't open. When I try to open a native
Photoshop file, I receive a message which says the file cannot be found. My
file associations are correct. Reformatting is out of the question (too
many apps - would take months). I suspect the Registry might be the
problem - and I'm not qualified to suspect anything else. Can anyone offer
suggestions? Thanks..........

I had a problem with PS7.0 not installing some time ago, turned out to
be MS Antispyware blocking it with no indication just hung installs.

Dunno about CS2 though

Any help?

I'd suspect Adware or Spyware or a virus.

I'd also go to

www.download.com

and get ccleaner

( crap cleaner)

also download pc bug doctor

with ccleaner, you get a free program that REALLY patches
things up. My scanner is CONSTANTLY crashing. Something
about it gets REALLY fussy about the registry being SQUEAKY
clean. When my scanner refuses to work, I run crap cleaner,
and then my scanner works!

So run Adware, run Spy bot, and run crap cleaner. I bet
they'll fix 99.9 % of your issues!

Good luck!

They don't support a tryout version.

Ah - yes - that bit of added information makes a world of difference.

With that additional information, I do have an alternative suggestion...
http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/

(Less Expensive too!)

I don't have any issues it was just MSAS Beta one would not let the
installer run at the time, I was just telling the AP of a similar
issue I had with an earlier version of Photoshop.

Nothing to do with Malware at all.
