You have found a newsgroup, but you give so little information on the
problem.. you might like to share with us the source and destination of the
aforementioned photo.. other details might help too, like the file type and
size of the photo..
Afore mentioned photo is stored on my second drive which I use for photos
and graphics that I try not to store on my C:\ drive to save space.
Photo in question is a JPEG image 600x900 and I would like to insert on top
of my existing desktop background in a special place.
I have been able to select the image but when I copy, or cut and paste the
selection to the desktop it still appears as a shortcut rather then the
selected part of a photo.
You either need to select your photo as your Desktop Background,
or load both images into a Graphics editor then copy and paste the new image
onto the old image.
You can then save the compsite image and select that as your new Desktop
Background.
