Photo Indexing

I just went through 5 years of pictures in windows
explorer while making a photo montage....frustrating. I
soon realized that if all the pictures where indexed and
in a database I could have searched them quite easily.
Any way to do this with Windows? Any 3rd party software?

Several new packages available to do this.
Microsoft Digital Image Suite 9.
Adobe Photo Album 2.
Usually about $50-60 with the usual mail-in rebates.
Both require a bit of work to get your old photos organized, but they will
keep up after this with the new photos. You can check the reviews using
google.
You then have more "pro" type of software like ACDsee, Thumbplus, Imatch
etc. etc.

I've used the photo storage and indexing at
http://www.ImagesUp.com it's not expensive, plus you can
store and link to all the photos you want. Try them.
