Permissions on Win2K member server

Bob Swipes

I have a customer with a mixed mode windows system. NT4 is
still the PDC & BDC with a Windows 2000 member server
thrown in. They want to set access permissions on a file
on the Win2K member server. They report that the only
users & groups that they are given an option to use are
the local users and groups. Is there a way to use the
Domain users/groups on the member server or do the
accounts need to be duplicated?

Thanks.

They should be given the option to select domain users and global groups as
long as the server is a member of the domain. Are they positive the server
is a domain member? NETDOM VERIFY ServerName /d:domain can be used to verify
the secure channel.

If that does not solve the problem, what happens when they click "Locations"
on the Select Users or Groups dialog? Does it only show the local system? Or
do they get an error of some sort when selecting the domain?
