Ok here's the deal. I decided to do a fresh install of XP
Pro the other day and have run into a slight problem. I
installed XP on my C drive (WD 40gig NTFS) and everything
went fine. As I went to my D drive (WD 80 gig NTFS) to
install some software, I got an error message stating "You
do not have the appropriate permissions to access this
item". This problem only affects 3 directories; My Audio,
Video and Software dir's. Everything else on D: is accessable.

This is the umpteenth time that I have done a fresh install
on this very system and never had any such problem before.
I don't know too much about permissions and ownership, but
as far as I can tell, everything is set up properly. I even
installed the D: drive into my brothers computer and the
same thing happened. I guess that means there is something
inhereint in the file system that is causing the problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It is probably a matter of ownership. In My Computer, r-click the
drive, Properties, and on the Security page click Advanced. On
Ownership, check that the current owner is your own account (or a group
including it, like Administrators) and check the box. 'replace owner on
subcontainers and objects'. Click apply and sit back while it does it.

Well I tried that, and I still don't have access to the
spcified files and folders. Anyone else have any ideas?
