Permission denied while trying to access Hotmail inbox from Outlook

Anyone have any idea how to correct this problem.

I have my hotmail e-mail account set up inside outlook. Whenever I
click on the inbox, I get a permission denied error. A script file
stops at the following:

"f=ViewCtl1.OutlookApplication.ActiveExplorer.CurrentFolder.FolderPath"

I have two other ISP accounts set up as well. I can send/reveive O.K.
from each account individually but if I try to send/receive all then I
get a "the operation failed" message

I have deleted and recreated the hotmail account without success. The
hotmail account is one with lots of storage (2GB) that I paid for.

This use to work in the past but 3-4 weeks ago, it just stopped
working

I did notice that it worked briefly for me this morning. When I opened
outlook it complained about not being shut down properly and proceeded
to check the .pst file. After it finished, I found that I could click
on my hotmail inbox and see the contents O.K. After I did a manual
send/receive on one of my ISP accounts, I could no longer access the
hotmail inbox.

thanks,
Gary

Check after exiting Outlook that the Task Manager's Processes tab does
NOT show any remnant and hung instances of outlook.exe (and winword.exe
if you are using Word as Outlook's e-mail editor). If there are any
left in memory, wait one minute and then kill them (right-click, end
task). Then see if Outlook behaves correctly.

Otherwise, try flushing the browser's temp file cache, including offline
content. If you still get the script error, try using Detect and Repair
(under the Help menu).

If that still doesn't help, see if creating a new mail profile and using
that one when you start Outlook gets Hotmail working again.

Have you applied the latest Office service pack?

thanks...tried all of this without success. I deleted the hotmail
account and I find I get an operation failed message if I do a
send/reveive all. I can check individually on the two remaining ISP
accounts with no problem. I have the latest office updates installed.

How long has this problem been occurring? Hotmail is not a reliable
service and never announces when they are making changes, when there
will be planned outages, or when they change the interface or other
behavior of their webmail service. You might have to wait a day before
Hotmail works again (I've even seen take almost a week to fix a
problem).

Have you checked if Outlook Express connects okay to your Hotmail
account? Otherwise, you're probably stuck with trying the Detect and
Repair (under the Help menu) and, if that doesn't work, doing an
uninstall and reinstall.
