Pen Tablet input to MS Access

Using Acer Pen Tablet with Office 2000. Can use the
tablet PC input panel and stylus to enter text in writing
pad mode when designing a table or form, BUT when open a
table in datasheet view, cannot enter data using the
input panel in writing pad mode...only keyboard mode
which defeats the purpose of the device!

Are there specific settings (or something else) that will
enable data input in writing pad mode?
