PDF and WMP10 closes IE6

Backround: Running XP pro with SP2. WMP 10, IE6, Adobe 6.0. Pentium III,
800Mhz, 384m memory

When I open a video file or PDF file from IE6 everything seems to work fine
but in both cases I have problems when I close the file.
In the case of PDF, closing the file or clicking "back" on IE6 will cause
IE6 to shut down.
With WMP, I can go back to the web page that generated the video link but
going anywhere from there causes IE6 to shut down.
In both cases there is no notice or errors reported.
I have had this problem for a long time and it occurred usin the original XP
pro, IE5.5 and WMP 9. I have managed to work around it but it is annoying.
I have tried reinstalling adobe and WMP but the results never change.

Any help would be appreciated.

How is it that you were running IE5.5 in WinXP, please?

Are you running WinXP SP2 now?

What application and version are you using to open the PDF file?

Actually I could well be wrong about that version. Everything seems to blur
together over the years.<G>
Everything else I believe is correct and yes I am running SP2 now.
I am opening the pdf with Adobe Reader 6.0.2

See if upgrading to Acrobat Reader v7 helps at all, CF.
