PDF file open in IE6

When I try to open a remote PDF file, IE6 shows be the File Download dialog
box. This give me the choice of Open or Save -- and gives me a dimmed and
checked "Alway check..." option.

I want IE6 to not ask this question for PDF files. That is, I want to
uncheck the dimmed out option.

How can I do this? There's got to be a way -- I hope -- to get rid of this
annoyance.

Opening a local PDF file with the Adobe Acrobat Reader doesn't show the
dialog. Trying to open a local file in IE6 brings up the dialog. Therefore,
IE6 is the key thing.

I'm using IE6 on Windows 2000 and Acrobat Reader 7, all at the latest
versions. I don't remember this PDF restriction until maybe 4-6 months ago.

Thanks for your thoughts.

AR likes to manage this itself. Use its Preferences dialog.
E.g. press Ctrl-k and check the appropriate boxes for the
Internet category. Sounds as if you have unchecked
"Display PDF in browser"

If that doesn't fix your symptoms satisfactorily be aware that AR
has a Repair option in its Add/Remove Programs entry.
It essentially seems to be an in-place re-install of the product
(e.g. without another download.)
