Adobe 6.0.1 Reader pdf files

I have a challenge when opening pdf files in IE6. Having
opened the file and then wishing to close it IE6 has a
memory read error and the whole application shuts down.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have reinstalled
IE6 and Adobe 6.0.1. I run Windows XP Professional.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately no change. Error
message remains:

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x0523f5db" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be read.
OK to close
Cancel to debug

When cancel hit, nothing happens and ie shuts down.
