Hello,
I'm needing help with my PC P4 1800, 1 gb ram, XP pro
My problem is that I cannot get windows to boot. PC starts as far as option
i.e safe mode, last configuration etc. when I select any option my PC begins
to load XP but after about 15 seconds it crashes and restarts. When I try
booting from my CD I only get as far as the begining of the setup window at
which point my PC freezes.
Any one out there able to assist me with this one.

Thanks for your time

Can you provide a copy of the Stop[ Error Report?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing
the F8 key during StartUp and select option - Disable automatic
restart on system failure.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies
if you can access Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

It may well be a hardware problem. Has there been any changes to
system recently? When was the system new? Do you have another
home computer?

This link indicates the types of problem but most of us are not geared
up
to check them out
