PC will not boot

Hello,
My PC recently had a spy ware problem so I reformatted the drive
and reinstalled everything. (OS and applications) After reinstalling
the computer worked fine for about 3 days, then one day it went
crazy! The CD-Rom door stared opening and closing and then the mouse
froze. So I restarted and it worked fine for about an hour then it
did the same thing again and this time the screen went blank.
If I restart the PC it goes though the BIOS fine (it sees the RAM and
drives ) but then it stops when it's about to boot the OS with a blank
grey screen.
I tried to boot up from the CD-Rom (with an XP disk to do a repair
install) but after the BIOS I still get the same grey screen.

MB = ASUS A7N266-VM
with on board video
CPU = AMD ATHLON socketA/462
Ram = 256MB 1 stick
HDD = 1 60GB Maxtor on the primary
IDE
CD-Rom = 1 Iomega on the secondary IDE
OS = Windows XP

Thanks

Classic symptom of spyware. Looks like your original attempt to clean the
system failed miserably. -Dave
