PC standby issue.

Hi,
I originally posted this to the 'General' category - but
feel it may be a better fit with this discussion group ..

I have an issue which frankly drives me crazy! I would be
REALLLY garteful if someone could enlighten me on what I
should/should not do ....

Depending on what I'm working on, I often put my PC
in 'stanby' mode when I leave home in the morning so that
I can quickly start-up when I get into the office ...
What frequently (and very frustratingly) happens however
is that once the PC is re-enabled and I am getting ready
to start, the monitor screen will suddenly go dark (LED
goes orange) almost as if the PC has somehow gone back
into stand-by mode again .... which it hasn't??

Is there any key-stroke sequence or whatever that
will 'revive' the PC monitor/screen again? What I end up
doing is pressing the 'stanby' button on the docking
station to 'force' a standby and then re-stablish the PC
working environment - which is a pain.

Any thoughts?

Don-

FWIW, I saw something very similar happen when I had an apparently buggy
video card driver installed. Updating it cured the problem.

From what you've said, this sounds like a notebook PC. IF it's an IBM
Thinkpad, try pressing the "Fn" key.
