PC standby issue!!

Don Niall

Hi,

I have an issue which frankly drives me crazy! I would be
REALLLY garteful if someone could enlighten me on what I
should/should not do ....

Depending on what I'm working on, I often put my PC
in 'stanby' mode when I leave home in the morning so that
I can quickly start-up when I get into the office ...
What frequently (and very frustratingly) happens however
is that once the PC is re-enabled and I am getting ready
to start, the monitor screen will suddenly go dark (LED
goes orange) almost as if the PC has somehow gone back
into stand-by mode again .... which it hasn't??

Is there any key-stroke sequence or whatever that
will 'revive' the PC monitor/screen again? What I end up
doing is pressing the 'stanby' button on the docking
station to 'force' a standby and then re-stablish the PC
working environment - which is a pain.

Any thoughts?

Check your BIOS settings. Some let you set the number of seconds of
inactivity before the hard disk is shut down and the display. Then
check START>CONTROL PANEL>DISPLAY all tabs. I think there is a similar
bunch of settings there. And check the Screen Saver with might be
kicking in. And then there is the APC Uninteruptible Power Supply
control -- yet another set of powerdown controls!
