PC Reboot

not sure if this is actually an XP problem or not..

Anyone experienced their PC (or in this case an HP Laptop) power itself off
for no apparent reason, and random intervals?

I have a user with a problem like this, he can have his laptop on for
anywhere from 2 mins to an hour, when it automatically powers off, when he
reboots straight after, it hangs at the Welcome Screen.
When he does get back into windows, he gets the dialog stating windows
recovered from a serious error

Strangely there is no errors reported in the Event Log

Anyone got any ideas?

Over heating? The HP laptop I have has 2 fans on the bottom of the laptop.
What a stupid place to put fans. I can't set it down on a table, and
espicially not in my lap or it overheats. Power off no warning. Comes back
up.

I never get errors though and I know my system is not going through the
normal shutdown process. I will look at the event log!

Yeah thats what I thought, but it does it after being on for about 2 mins
after not being used all night, for example 7am one morning and the lst time
it was used was 5pm the night before
