PC Keeps Freezing.

PC Freeze.

My PC freezes completely and the only way to unfreeze it is to switch the
power plug off. The strange thing though is the longer I leave the power off,
the longer I can use it before it freezes again. 8 hours off gives about 3
hours use before freezing, a couple of seconds off it freezes on boot up, 5
minutes off I get about 10 minutes of use. The only thing I did was to click
on the blue URL address (www.cmedia.com.tw) on the information page of Xear
3D CMI Audio Config after opening it on the Control Panel. I’ve also noticed
the Number Lock is on during boot up, whereas before it only came with Caps
Lock & Scroll Lock for about a second when boot up was nearly complete.
Any idea what I’ve done and how to rectify the problem?

Thanks for any help - Andy

Hi,

You need a technician, as what you are describing is typical of a hardware
failure. One or more components are failing, the longer the recovery time,
the longer it is until it overheats and fails again.

If the time off relates directly to the time before freeze then your
PC suffers from a hardware problem, perhaps a temperature
problem. It is unlikely to be caused by Windows. I suggest you
repost your question in a hardware newsgroup.

Then it sounds like a dirty fan, dirty ps fan, dirty cpu fansink, or a
cobination of all.
