PC freezes during software install

When trying to install AdAware and Windows Updates, PC freezes. Can't
Cntr|Alt|Del. Must turn PC power off. Can install other software. Just
installed Karen Kenworthy's registry pruner and it installed fine. Any ideas?

After installing Karen Kenworthy's registry pruner did you then run it before trying other installs? It's possible you have hosed several registry entries required for a smooth operation of your computer. Using any program to clean up the registry has risks and so caution should be taken even for the experienced. If you have run that program I would find the backup it made and undo any changes and then see how you go. Some people say yes to every prompt or suggestion from these programs without due diligence or understanding the consequences and wonder why problems occur. Use registry cleanup programs with caution and always make sure a backup of the changes is made. If no backup was made try sytem restore to a date prior to these problems.

I ran the registry pruner this weekend, and it cleared the situation up.
