My PC freezes on shutdown displaying a message "updates are being installed
(1 of 2). Do not turn off or unplug your computer. It will turn off
automatically" Despite leaving PC alne for a while it does not progress
beyond this message. Message appeared after an 'update" shield appeared on
the shut down button. Help. Only way to turn off PC is via the mains.

Hey Tim ... Try changing your setting for updates ... Go to the following
..... Right click My Computer >>> select properties >>> click Automatic
Updates Tab and select the one in the middle , its Notify me but don't blah
blah blah >>> click apply ... See if that helps

That would not help at all.

Tim, we are seeing a fair bit of this in the last few days and are
trying to find a commonality. I don't have an answer for you yet, but
would appreciate it if you will please post back with what updates you
selected (if you know), your computer specs (if you know them) like
processor, manufacturer (Dell, Sony, none, etc.), and also the
antivirus and firewall programs you are using.

Thanks,

Malke
