pc activity stop

I recently installed SP2 for XP and have been noticing
that when the computer sits idle for a while I lose
access to my mouse and keyboard. Also the pc activity
light on my cable modem shows no activity. I then have
to power down the entire system (pc and modem) in order
to correct the problem. Has anyone seen this? Thanks in

If these are USB devices, try the following. Open Control Panel, open
System, go to the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, click the plus sign
next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, then right click each "USB Root
Hub" entry one at a time, select properties, go to the Power Management tab,
remove the check from "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save
power," click ok and see if that resolves the issue. If it doesn't resolve
the issue right away, reboot and then see if it worked.
