passwords won't store

I have a laptop running XP Pro that is part of a Windows 2003 Server domain
although the user logs in locally instead of into the domain. We set up his
mapped drives to network resources and save the password when we set them up
and they work just fine. However, when we reboot the machine, it loses all
of the stored passwords and he can no longer connect to his mapped network
drives. This just started happening this week when it was working correctly
last week. Any ideas?

Thanks - Greg

As the user of the laptop is logging in locally, you can try this:

Log into the XP machine as that user. Remove all the mappings to the shared
resources under My Computer. Then:

Start / Control Panel / User Accounts
Open up the selected user account
Under "Related Tasks", select "Manage my network passwords"
In the dialog box that opens, remove all stored credentials to the affected
server.
Reboot the machine. (Not absolutely necessary, but will ensure that the
changes are made)
Re-map the network drives, entering the new logon credentials.

I've done this successfully on several XP Pro clients in our 2000 domain, so
there's no reason it shouldn't work in a 2003 domain.
